# The Token

## <mark style="color:blue;">What's in a token?</mark>

For those wishing to take part in blockchain mechanics, they will interact with the $STFU token. There are many ways that the $STFU token is and will be incorporated into the STFU game. At release, the token will be implemented in digital asset crafting mechanics, staking, and for the purchasing of game items.

Later on the token will be implemented into a full suite of UGC tools as both a cost to play and a reward for creations.

## <mark style="color:blue;">How to acquire $STFU</mark>

Most directly, $STFU can be acquired on the open market through a liquidity pool where the player exchanges a stable coin, such as $USDC for the amount of $STFU they wish to purchase. $STFU will also be emitted slowly to stakers, airdropped to early community members, and sold in an initial token offering. $STFU will also be emitted to players completing online matches while using an Indie ship.

As our UGC level-building systems come online, creators will be able to earn $STFU in the form of royalties. We will pay out 20% of purchases for the first 30 days for new users acquired through that creator’s UGC. This is a direct 1:1 offset of our traditional User Acquisition marketing spend which doesn’t guarantee new users or new user revenue at all.
